Awesome with Sprinkles

Faux Fabulous No-Carve Pumpkin Decor

Faux pumpkins are great way to jazz up your home decor and add a bit of fall festiveness to your space. But you can do way more than just carve them. BOR-ING! There is not near enough glitter in that approach! With just a little time (and a whole lot of glitter) we have turned these no-carve craft pumpkins from faux into FABULOUS! I am telling you guys…it’s super easy!

Faux pumpkins have come a long way in recent years from the plain orange pumpkins of holidays past. Craft stores carry a wide variety of no-carve pumpkins in all kinds of shapes, sizes and colors to choose from. You don’t even have to paint them anymore if you don’t want to. Sometimes you can even find them pre-cut into halves, or hollowed out perfectly for you to get started right away. So easy!

Crafty Supplies Needed:

Let’s get crafty!

1. Print & Cut Leaves

Print out our Fall Leaves Template and cut out the leaves you would like to use for your pumpkin. There is a variety of styles and sizes for you to use.

Arrange the leaves to your liking and tape them onto the pumpkin (I just rolled a piece of tape and stuck it on the underside of the leaf).

2. Trace Leaves & Add Details

Trace the outline of the leaves and add little details. I just free-handed the insides of the leaves and the curly-cues for the vines and added little dots here and there. You could connect the leaves to the stem with dotted lines or just leave them “falling” down the sides. Whatever you want!

Mine looked something like this when I was finished.

3. Trace over with puffy paint

It’s time to get glittery! Trace over your beautiful designs with puffy paint. Apply it on thick for ultimate sparkle! Be sure to let the puffy paint dry throughly (overnight is best) before handling your pumpkin and be careful not to drag your hand through your designs as you are tracing over your crazy amount of curly-cues (oh, was that just me?). I also went back and painted over the stem with a copper color to add an extra touch of glam, but that is completely optional!

I LOVE that the puffy paint adds another level of texture to the design and really makes it pop more than just regular paint or markers. You could also use glittery hot glue sticks or just the regular old glue + loose glitter method but this method is WAY less messy.

As I mentioned before we chose this giant white pumpkin with the hollow already cut out for us, so we could fill it with goodies. Detty was making a Boo Basket for her (very lucky) neighbors! She filled it with homemade caramel corn (yummy!!) and added a cute little pumpkin sign with their monogram in the same orange glitter. We wanted something they could also use after Halloween, so we classed it up a bit with the white pumpkin, coppery orange glitter paint, and added neutral fall designs (rather than anything too Halloweeny) so they could use it through till Thanksgiving as well. I think it would make a pretty center piece or home for a flower pot!

You can make your own Boo Basket for your neighborhood or friends. We have made this cute printable and even collected some great ideas for you! Check it out!

That’s it! Seriously, it’s so easy to take that simple pumpkin and turn it into something so fancy! You can customize your designs to match your existing home decor or do something new to really jazz up your space! Plus you get a decoration that will last for many seasons to come!

We have more no-carve pumpkin crafts coming at you soon, so stay tuned!

Happy crafting!
